Australian Sarah Wilson travels the Greek Island of Ikaria, a so called blue zone, together with the National Geographic team to find out about their traditional food habits. Different from what we have been told over the past twenty years.


beans + greens + olive oil + glass(es) of red wine

- clean, pure and whole food straight from the garden
- no messing around with food, e.g. skim milk or preservatives
- slow cooked
- healthy amounts of dairy, notably goat's milk
- (pork) meat as a sideshell, of a marginal size
- tiny amounts of added, obvious sugars - no hidden sugars
- large quantities of pure organic wine red wine (sulphite-free!) to be consumed with meals to increase absorption of nutrients - a social activity
- smaller calorie intake
